The Blackheath Rhododendron Festival is fast approaching. This year we have planned a number of attractions and events for the day, however the most important event is the Festival Parade. We are inviting our local community organizations to join us and participate in the parade to showcase what fabulous community services, organizations and talent we have in Blackheath and surrounding suburbs.
This year’s Rhododendron parade on Rhodo Day (Saturday, November 4) starts at 11.30am at Blackheath Oval and wind its way along Wentworth Street to finish at Blackheath Gardens - the park on the highway opposite the railway station. There are plenty of vantage points along the way to watch the bands and floats. The princess traditionally leads the parade, followed by a wild collection of fancy-dressed participants, including local school children, pre-schoolers, scouts, soccer club, gardening groups, swimming pool supporters and a silly array of individuals who just want to dress up for the day. This year watch out for the way-out-there-wear from the Cosplayers, who will compete for the best costume award.
