Art Show and Festival Opening

Official Opening of the Festival and Art Show will be on Friday 27th October 2017 commencing at 7.00pm. Last years Rhododendron Princess will be attending as her final role as Princess. The new 'Princess in waiting' will also be in attendance. Everyone is welcome to attend, this is NOT an invitation only event!

The Rotary Club of Upper Blue Mountains Sunrise will cater with finger food all night and social refreshments will be served as well.

The cost is $25.00 per head. There will be a three piece band of Steve Jewel playing.

The official opening will take place first at 8:00pm then the announcement of art show prize winners and then the Art Show official opening.This will take approx 25 minutes.

If you can’t make the opening there is still additional days you can go and explore all of the amazing talent every day until the 5th November. Opening hours are 10am until 4 pm each day, except on the 5th of November when it will be open 10am to 3pm, gold coin entry.



Revue 2017


Once again in despair about her love life, Bridget decides to get away from it all and take a mini-break in Blackheath, but all does not go as planned...

Bridget Jones Does Blackheath features writer/director Nigel Glassey’s original songs and hilarious dance routines choreographed by Phillip Yeong. Rehearsals are well underway, with a five-piece band and a fabulous local cast including Sigrid Langford as Bridget, Colin Davidson as Mark Darcy and Andrew McDonell as Trevor – Darcy’s newest rival for Bridget’s affection.

This year for the first time, Rhodo Revue is going On Tour, with four performances at Blackheath Community Hall and two extra performances at the newly renovated Lawson Mechanics Institute.

The stately Glenella Guesthouse is hosting an Elegant Jazz Dinner evening as part of the Rhododendron Festival Parade weekend. The well known Steve Jewell Trio will be performing. A once-off opportunity to enjoy the heritage ambiance of Glenella together with good food and live music.
Dinner will be shared plates of Spanish inspired tapas.
A range of wine and beer will be available to purchase from the Glenella Bar.

The stately Glenella Guesthouse is opening its doors to the public for the 2017 Rhododendron Festival to host a “Rhodo Devonshire Tea event”.

Enjoy the heritage ambiance of our guesthouse while relishing a leisurely cup of tea or barista coffee, together with a plateful of classic Glenella-produced scones and tasty treats.  Gluten free option available.

The Ball

The 2017 Roaring Twenties Rhododendron Festival Debutante Ball.

The Festival Ball has been an annual event since 1960, so be part of the tradition – dig out your dancing shoes and enjoy a glittering night of 1920s frivolity. Twenties dancing dress and feather boas welcome!
